Córdoba had a better feel to it than malaga. The streets weren’t tiled, but old cobblestone. you had occasional cars trying to squeeze through. it felt a bit more gritty and alive.
Mosque-Cathedral
The main attraction in Cordoba is the massive Mosque-Cathedral.
It was built by the muslim caliphate when they controlled the area. After the Spanish regained control, they converted it into a christian cathedral. It retains the feel of both.
It’s interesting to see these two styles combined with each other. it was like a cathedral was simply dropped right in the middle of a mosque.
Journal Entry
We went to tour the mosque cathedral early in the morning, so we could get free entry without buying a ticket.
The mosque was massive, with a repeating double-arch support structure throughout. There is a massive cathedral just kind of added in the center, after the fact.
After the mosque, we also climbed the bell tower. I always like to find a view in whatever place I am in.
We the went to the gardens. They were alright.
On the way back from the gardens, I saw a water wheel I really liked. We climbed down to go look at it.
Then we went across the Roman bridge so I could get a picture of the city. We took a break on the riverside hill.
After that we walked around to find food for a long time, all over, and ended up getting a beer by some old roman columns we found.
Bell Tower
You can climb the mosque bell tower to get a view of the city.

Calleja de las Flores
The alley of flowers is right behind the mosque, and gives the above 🤌 perspective on the tower.
I found this cutecat there.
Cat de las Flores
Alcazár and Jardines
downriver from the mosque is an old fort and garden site. The gardens were nice.
Roman Bridge
Finally leading across the river from the mosque is the old roman bridge. this thing is massive, and there are tons of performers all along it playing music.
Waterwheel
In the image above, just out of site to the left, was an ancient waterwheel
We we’re only in Cordoba for 2 nights, and needed to catch another train early in the morning to Granada.
